Telehealth Notice
What you should know about Thryva's virtual care services before, during, and after your visit. Full informed consent is obtained through your patient intake before your first visit.
About Our Telehealth Services
Thryva provides virtual hormone and longevity care to patients in six states: Illinois, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Texas, and Washington. Dr. Shakeeka Misher, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, is actively licensed in each of these states. Patients located outside these jurisdictions cannot be accepted for clinical care, regardless of where Thryva's office is located.
In-person care is also available at our El Paso, Texas office for patients who prefer it.
How Virtual Visits Work
Telehealth visits are conducted using a HIPAA-compliant video platform. Before your visit, you'll receive a secure link by email or through our patient portal. You'll need:
- A reliable internet connection
- A device with a camera and microphone
- A private, well-lit space
- Government-issued photo ID for first visit verification
- Any current medication list or supplement bottles
- Recent labs (if available)
Informed Consent
Before your first visit, you'll be asked to review and electronically sign a detailed Telehealth Informed Consent form through our electronic health record (EHR) system. That document covers, in legal detail, the items summarized below. The brief overview here is provided for transparency and convenience — the EHR consent form is the binding agreement.
Benefits & Limitations of Virtual Care
What virtual care does well
Most hormone, perimenopause, and longevity consultations translate beautifully to telehealth. Comprehensive history-taking, lab review, treatment planning, prescription management, and follow-up care are all routinely handled virtually — often with more time and depth than a rushed in-person visit allows.
What virtual care can't do
Telehealth has real limits. We cannot perform a physical examination, take vital signs in person, draw blood, or evaluate emergent symptoms in real time. Certain clinical situations may require us to refer you for in-person care — either at our El Paso office or with a local provider in your area.
Emergency Notice
Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, suicidal thoughts, or any other emergency, call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a telehealth response. Thryva does not provide emergency, urgent, or after-hours care.
Privacy & Security
Our telehealth platform is HIPAA-compliant and encrypted. Visits are not recorded by Thryva unless you have specifically consented to recording in writing. We ask that you take your visit from a private location to protect your own confidentiality. If others are present in the room, please let us know at the start of the visit.
For full details on how your protected health information (PHI) is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
Prescriptions
When clinically appropriate, prescriptions can be sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. State and federal regulations may limit certain prescriptions — particularly controlled substances — that can be issued via telehealth. Your provider will discuss any limitations specific to your treatment plan.
Technical Issues
If a visit is interrupted or cannot proceed due to technical problems, we will reschedule or complete the visit by phone where clinically appropriate, at no additional charge. If technical issues prevent care entirely, you'll be offered a full refund or rescheduled visit.
Out-of-State Travel
To receive virtual care from Thryva, you must be physically located in one of our six licensed states (IL, NC, NM, NY, TX, WA) at the time of your appointment. If you are traveling outside these states on the day of your visit, please reschedule. State medical licensure laws govern where care can be provided, and we cannot make exceptions.
Questions or Concerns
If you have any questions about telehealth at Thryva — including how to prepare, what to expect, or whether virtual care is appropriate for your situation — please reach out before your appointment.
